I’m Vlad, co-owner of D&L Garage Doors & Locksmith. I moved to the U.S. from Russia in 2008, started out as a locksmith, and eventually partnered with a garage door specialist who taught me the trade from the ground up. We opened D&L in 2010 with a simple idea: combine garage door and locksmith services under one roof, and treat every customer the way we’d want to be treated.

Fifteen years later, that idea turned into 1,300+ five-star reviews and a team I’m proud of. I still go out on jobs — especially the bigger installations — because I like being hands-on and making sure the work meets our standards.

When I’m not crawling around someone’s garage, I’m chasing my four kids around, watching Juventus, or snowboarding up at Mt. Hood Meadows.

How We’re Different

Most garage door companies in Portland use subcontractors. That means the person showing up at your house doesn’t actually work for the company you called. They’re paid per job, which creates pressure to upsell and rush through the work.

We don’t do that. Every technician on our team is a D&L employee. No subcontractors, no commissioned sales, no pressure. When Daniel, Ed, or Riley shows up at your door, they work for us full-time, and their only job is to fix your problem honestly.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

We’ll tell you when you don’t need a new door. One of our customers received a quote from another company of $5,000–$10,000 for a full replacement. Our guys inspected the door, told her it was solid, and didn’t charge her a dime. That’s not an exception — that’s how we operate.

Free service call with any repair. Our $89 diagnostic fee is credited toward any on-site work we do. If we fix it, you don’t pay the trip charge.

Same-day service on most repairs. Broken spring at 8 am? We’re usually there by the afternoon.

Free estimates on new garage doors. No obligation, no sales pitch. We measure, we quote, you decide.
