Hillsboro Garage Door Repair — Straight Answers, Same-Day Service

Hillsboro is Intel country. It’s a city where people research decisions, read specs before they buy anything, and have little patience for contractors who show up with no clear pricing and vague answers. We get it — and we work the same way.

D&L Garage Doors has been serving the Hillsboro area since 2010. Every technician is on our payroll — no subcontractors, no day-labor surprises. When you book a job, you get someone who works for us and is accountable to us. We tell you what’s wrong, what it costs, and what your options are before we touch anything.

Same-day service on most repairs and opener installations. Free service call with any repair. Over 1,300 five-star Google reviews from homeowners across the Portland metro.

Why Hillsboro Keeps Our Trucks Busy

Hillsboro’s growth tells the story.

A massive share of Hillsboro’s homes were built after 2000 — driven by Intel expansion, the MAX light rail line, and the rapid development of planned communities like Orenco Station, Tanasbourne, South Hillsboro, and AmberGlen. That’s not ancient history. But it’s old enough that the builder-grade garage door hardware installed during construction is now hitting the 20–25 year mark.

Builder-grade equipment isn’t designed to last forever. Developers spec the cheapest springs, rollers, and openers that pass inspection — not the ones that hold up through Portland winters for 25 years. A chain-drive opener installed in 2003 in Orenco Station was never meant to still be running in 2026. And the springs that came with it? Probably overdue.

There’s also an older Hillsboro — the Reedville neighborhoods, the areas along TV Highway, homes built in the 70s and 80s that predate the Silicon Forest boom entirely. These homes have their own aging hardware, often untouched since original installation.

Either way, whether you’re in a 2004 planned community or a 1978 ranch, Hillsboro’s garage doors are telling us something.

Garage Door Services We Provide in Hillsboro

Spring Repair & Replacement — From $289 Installed

Springs are the single most common failure point on any garage door. They do the actual heavy lifting — your opener just tells the door when to move. When a spring breaks, the door usually won’t open at all, or it’ll move unevenly and strain the opener.

We carry 16 different spring sizes on every truck. Most spring jobs are completed same-day. We use SSC springs (Service Spring Corporation), made in the USA — not the imported hardware that some companies use to shave margins.

One thing worth knowing: if your spring mounts to a center bracket on the wall above your door, and that bracket is showing wear or the bolts are pulling away from the wood, that’s not a minor cosmetic issue. A failed center bracket under spring tension can cause serious damage. We check this every time.

Spring repair from $289 installed. Free service call with any repair — you don’t pay for the visit itself.

Opener Repair & Installation — From $699 Installed

If you bought your home in Hillsboro during the early 2000s development boom, there’s a reasonable chance your opener is a chain-drive unit from that era, still grinding away in your garage. Chain drives aren’t bad, but they’re noisy — and if you have a bedroom, office, or living space above or beside the garage, noise matters.

We install LiftMaster openers exclusively. Every current model includes myQ smartphone control built in, a camera, and Security+ 3.0 encryption. The entry-level 2220L chain-drive starts at $699 installed. Belt-drive models (6580L and up) run quieter and are the right call if you’re working from home or your garage shares a wall with a bedroom.

If you’re replacing a unit from the early 2000s, you’ll notice the difference immediately.

New Garage Door Sales & Installation — From $1,500 Installed

Builder-grade doors in planned communities tend to be steel single-layer panels — functional, but not particularly insulated or impact-resistant. If your door is dented, warped, or just looking dated, replacing it improves both curb appeal and energy efficiency.

We carry Amarr, CHI, and Northwest Door (NWD) — all manufactured in the US. Insulated two-layer and three-layer options are available. Free estimates on new doors.

FAQs About Hillsboro Garage Door Services

A belt-drive opener is the right call. Belt-drive motors run significantly smoother and quieter than chain-drive units — which matters when the garage ceiling is someone’s floor. The LiftMaster 6580L is our most popular belt-drive model and starts at $849 installed. The 6690L at $989 is the quietest unit we carry. Both include myQ smartphone control and a built-in camera.
